Charlotte-based shoe company launches collection in Macy’s stores

Vaila Shoes, a Black-owned company that offers “inclusive” footwear, has launched its latest line, available at five Macy’s locations.

Vaila Shoes was founded in 2022 after CEO Ahriana Edwards struggled for over a decade to find shoes to fit her size-12 feet. The company creates shoes for women in sizes 9-14.

The Macy’s launch marks the company’s first entry into brick-and-mortar retail and includes a spring and summer collection.

“The Macy’s launch serves as a huge affirmation to Vaila’s existence and to my own personal experiences as a woman with an extended shoe size,” Edwards said in a statement.

For now, the shoes are sold in Macy’s stores in New York City, Atlanta and Washington, D.C.  The company hasn’t announced if it will bring the line to Macy’s stores in Charlotte.

“Now, thanks to this launch, ladies with a larger size are finally able to enjoy an inclusive, in-person shoe shopping experience,” Edwards said. “It’s a dream come true to create a solution to a problem I too once faced.”
