The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred Thursday morning in southwest Charlotte.

According to a statement by CMPD, shortly before 6:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious person call near the 7800 block of Riding Trail Road.

When officers arrived, they located a victim with apparent trauma. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.
