Human remains found near Steele Creek woods


Charlotte Mecklenburg Police officers found human remains near Steele Creek woods on Saturday afternoon.

According to a statement from CMPD, shortly before 1:00 p.m., officers responded to a check the welfare call in the 6600 block of Dupont Drive.

When officers got there, they found the remains of a man near the woods. Police said preliminary reports indicated the man had been deceased for some time, police said.

Police identified the subject as 44-year-old Alex Zamora.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit detective.
