Man dead after being shot on Christmas morning


A 28-year-old man has died after being shot on Christmas morning in northwest Charlotte.

Authorities have identified the victim as Fredrick Antonio Edwards.

According to a statement by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, shortly after 2:13 a.m., officers responded to reports of someone shot near the 2200 block of Beatties Ford Road.  

When officers arrived, they located two adult male victims with apparent gunshot wounds. MEDIC pronounced one victim dead on the scene. The other victim was transported to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

A third victim with gunshot wounds self-transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police have identified 30-year-old Bruce Japel Adams as the alleged suspect. Arrest warrants were issued for Adams for the crimes of First Degree Murder and Robbery With a Dangerous Weapon.
