Teen shot in east Charlotte

A 17-year-old was shot Wednesday afternoon in east Charlotte, Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department reported.

According to a statement by CMPD, shortly after 2:30 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 2000 block of Lanza Drive. 

When officers got there, they located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound in the neighborhood of the Reserve at Canyon Hills. 

MEDIC transported the victim to the hospital with life-threatening injuries,police say.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
